The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is on the lookout for committed and attentive Nurse Aides to join the team at SCI Laurel Highlands. DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Certified Nurse’s Aide working under the direct oversight of a Registered Nurse, your responsibilities will encompass a range of care areas including Skilled Care, Personal Care, Outpatient services, and care for the General Population. Your daily tasks will involve a variety of essential duties aimed at ensuring the health and well-being of inmates, which include executing fundamental nursing skills and procedures to promote optimal health outcomes and deliver high-quality care. You will be required to maintain accurate documentation as mandated, collect specimens such as urine, feces, and sputum as instructed by the Registered Nurse, and assist inmates with their daily living activities and personal hygiene to address their basic physical care needs. Additionally, you will engage in Life Skills programming by adhering to nursing care plan directives, providing interventions tailored to the specific needs of inmates, and documenting relevant aspects of the nursing care plan. In emergency situations, you will be expected to perform necessary emergency procedures, such as CPR and managing obstructed airways, as well as participate in assigned emergency response drills to ensure preparedness. Full-time employment
The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
8-hour shifts with rotating days off
Work hours to be determined. Schedule to be determined by open shifts at the time of hire.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
Special Requirement:
This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
