Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, 15201 Pittsburgh USAThe Department of Biomedical Informatics DBMI is seeking to recruit a faculty member in biomedical informatics with expertise in data integration, data sharing, and cyber security to help drive the integration of clinical care and clinical research. DBMI has eighteen primary faculty scholars with expertise in clinical informatics, translational bioinformatics, clinical research informatics, and public health informatics. The University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University have dozens of additional faculty scholars pursuing research in biomedical informatics, AI/ML and healthcare, and we actively collaborate with many of them. This DBMI position will be at the Assistant Professor rank in the appointment track in the School of Medicine.The ideal candidate will be a nationally recognized informatician with at least 10 years of experience in data integration, data sharing, and cyber security to help drive the integration of clinical care and clinical research and biomedical informatics across multiple existing federally funded research projects. The candidate must have an MD, informatics training, deep expertise with electronic health record EHR data and its provisioning to investigators, and deep software engineering expertise in multiple languages among cloud and high-performance computing platforms.The successful faculty recruit will be expected to participate in funded research programs, help oversee, as Associate Chief Research Informatics Officer, the exceptional data infrastructure here, and participate in instruction and mentoring in our biomedical informatics training program. The faculty recruit will have the opportunity to pursue clinical practice and participate in the Clinical Informatics Subspecialty Fellowship Program. The faculty recruit also has ample opportunity to explore commercialization and entrepreneurship toward the goal of commercializing innovative research.For an Assistant Professor position the qualifications are as follows: Must possess a doctoral degree or appropriate professional degree.
