The research laboratory of Dr. Tharick Pascoal in the Department of Psychiatry/Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic, located in Oakland, Pittsburgh, PA is currently hiring a full-time Data Coordinator & Analyst to support ongoing and imminent research studies focused on monitoring the progression of Alzheimer’s disease pathophysiology, using techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. Our research data originates from a longitudinal multi-site study funded by the Principal Investigator’s National Institute on Aging award, as well as from other research cohorts from collaborators in our field.The purpose of the Data Coordinator & Analyst would be to monitor data collected locally and at external performance sites, which are uploaded to a central database. Monitoring would involve checking for completeness and quality of the data from standards set by the Principal Investigator. Curating and processing of MRI and PET data is the most important facet of this position. The Data Analyst would also be involved in statistical analysis of various types of data (neuroimaging data, fluid biomarker data, cognitive data), with training provided and guided by the Principal Investigator and research team. Finally, the Data Analyst would support the dissemination of results through the preparation of figures or presentations, as well as assisting with the preparation of scientific articles for publication with authorship.This position is grant funded.Responsibilities:

Verify data from a variety of research sources for input into our laboratory-managed data server

Curate, convert, and process medical imaging data including various modalities of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET), based on pre-existing pipelines, with adaptations as needed to fit the data.

Run weekly and/or monthly quality control (QC) reports to check data accuracy in study databases.

Create customized reports on our research data to present weekly at data team meetings.

Set up and/or maintain various laboratory computerized filing systems, particularly confidential files, in accordance with department procedures or record keeping requirements.

Provide support for special research projects and assignments. Research, analyze, and summarize information and source materials for reports. Prepare data on projects and studies, such as conducting statistical analyses and presenting results.

Attend and participate in various in-service training, external training workshops, conferences and other relevant programs for professional growth and development.

Ensure that current documentation is accurate and on file at all times.

Bachelors degree in Health related field, Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience.

Computer knowledge required.

Strong practical working experience with Linux operating systems, shell scripting (bash), Python, SQL, and statistical software (R, MATLAB, GraphPad Prism) highly preferred.

Experience working with medical imaging and/or brain imaging (MRI, PET) is a strong asset for this position.

Experience with dissemination of results (presentations, figures) and assisting with the preparation of scientific articles is a strong asset for this position.
