The Department of Pharmacology and Physiology is looking for an experienced Research Associate to support NIH-funded research activities within the Meucci lab. Ongoing projects focus on neurocognitive disorders associated with HIV infection and neuroinflammation in the context of substance abuse. Candidates with previous experience in these areas and strong background in electrophysiology are strongly encouraged to apply. The idea candidate will have outstanding communication and organization skills and thrive in a diverse environment.

Essential Functions

Conduct and/or analyze experiments in line with the overall research goals of the lab and funded projects.

Prepare scientific reports and drafts of manuscripts (papers / grants).

Help develop new techniques.

Support training of new students or junior trainees in basic lab techniques.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Biological Sciences / Neuroscience.

Minimum of 3 years' post-doctoral experience in a neurobiology or translational neuroscience setting.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Time management and organization skills.

Highest work ethic standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Self-learner and motivated.

Strong quantitative abilities.

Proven success working independently or as a member of a team.

Experience working with rodent animal models.

Experience with mammalian cell culture.

Goal-oriented and attention to details.

Physical Requirements

Typically sitting at a desk/table.

Typically standing, walking.

Lifting Demands <25lbs.

Typically bending, crouching, stooping.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade K . Compensation for this grade ranges from 54630 to 81940 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
