THE POSITION

The Division of Food Safety is essential in safeguarding the health of both residents and visitors in Pennsylvania. It oversees a vast network of dining establishments, retail food outlets, and food production facilities throughout the state, ensuring that they adhere to stringent food safety laws and standards.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will be responsible for performing sanitation inspections at seasonal agricultural labor camps and various food and milk processing facilities, including wholesale, retail, manufacturing, dairy, and warehousing operations within designated regional areas. Additionally, you will carry out FDA audit inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.Interested in learning more? Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
This position may require travel and overtime.
This position will be home headquartered if applicant lives in Lancaster, Lebanon, or Berks County. If applicant does not live in Lancaster, Lebanon, or Berks County the assigned state vehicle must be parked in one of these counties and the work day will start at 8:00 AM at the location of the assigned state vehicle.
The selected candidate will need to travel outside these counties to assist with coverage of various specialty inspection types, specifically Dairy and Milk regulated facilities.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:One year as a Food Inspector 1, Agriculture (commonwealth title); or
Two years of experience in the inspection of food establishments or food processing facilities, and a bachelor's degree in food science, food technology, or a closely related field; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
