The Surgical Supply and Processing Technician Lead works under the direction of the Nurse Manager. He/she is responsible for overseeing the processing workflow as it relates to equipment, instrumentation, and supplies within the KOPH Peri-op units' scope of practice. This individual partners closely with the equipment coordinator to ensure instruments and sets are accurately uploaded into SPM. They partner with the CPD educator to ensure current staff and new hires successfully acquire their yearly competencies within the department. This individual will also partner with the Program Manager of HLDS for the performance and effectiveness of the HLDS program in accordance with the HLDS programmatic philosophy and goals. The role will require close partnership with Supply Chain disciplines including Inventory Management as well as collaboration with supporting departments such as SCC, Nursing, Biomed, Facilities, IPC, and Regulatory/Compliance. This individual oversees the reprocessing team to ensure proper care/competency, handling, cleaning, and preparation for items that require HLDS and storage.What you will do

Provides oversight to the activities of the supplies, instrumentation, and equipment needs for the unit

Provides oversight of the HLDS program

Completes specific HLDS metrics, goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the KOPH peri-op services.

Ensures clear channels of communication exist with staff in order to address concerns in an expeditious manner

Possesses excellent communication skills at multiple levels of the enterprise; has the ability to prepare and present presentations to team members and leaders

Collaborates with the Program Manager of HDLS and the CPD Educator for the training and education of the KOPH SPD

Serves as a resource to the department performing HLDS duties and to all ancillary departments who perform decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization when necessary

Participates in joint activities with the Equipment Coordinator as directed by leadership

Works to achieve continual readiness through regulatory control initiatives.

Implements systems to facilitate regulatory compliance

Collaborates with Program Manager, HDLS to develop regulatory expertise in both clinical and non-clinical settings, keeping up with any updates, trends, mandates, etc

Conducts regular service rounds to determine effectiveness and compliance

Serves as the Champion on process improvements initiatives, implementing organizational change through positive communication

Identifies improvements using CHOP approved PI methodology

Maintains departmental procedures as standards or requirements change

Communicates regularly with project sponsors, team leads, process owners, and other stakeholders about teams' progress toward goal achievement, critical factors, a d obstacles.Education Qualifications

High School Diploma / GED Required

Bachelor's Degree Health Care related degree Preferred

Technical Diploma Sterile Processing Technician Required Experience Qualifications

At least three (3) years of HLDS related work experience

Required

At least three (3) years working with clinical teams Required Licenses and Certifications

Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) - HSPA - upon hire - Required
