The School of Humanities at Penn State Harrisburg is accepting applications for a non-tenure line Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor of Media Production and Broadcast to start January 2025, if possible. The program seeks candidates with teaching expertise in media and production experience in television production, newspaper/print journalism, and podcasting/radio production.Responsibilities will include supervising student media production practicums, which involve overseeing the recording of television/streaming shows by students, coordinating the publication of the monthly campus newspaper as part of a practicum, and teaching various media courses within the Communication program such as Media Production, critical Media literacy and Graphic design and more.This is a term, non-tenure track appointment with the possibility of reappointment.Position Requirements and Preferences:
The minimum educational credential required for the applicant is a master's degree in Communication, or a related field, with an emphasis on media production and broadcast. Candidates with a doctoral degree in Mass Communication or Communication with a focus on media production or broadcasting are preferred. A candidate with only a master's degree will be hired at the rank of lecturer. A candidate with a doctoral degree will be hired at the rank of Assistant Teaching professor. The degree must be completed by the time of application.Full-time faculty normally teach four courses per semester. The successful candidate will have college teaching experience, media-industry production experience, and a commitment to university service and public outreach. Previous experience in advising and mentoring students is preferred. A familiarity with a wide range of media production practices and tools is required.
