Architectural Millwork & Casework Manufacturing
Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Buyer / Purchasing Manager to lead purchasing activities for a custom architectural millwork and casework manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier management, and procurement execution to support production schedules, project budgets, and overall operational efficiency.
This is a position within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Lead procurement of lumber, sheet goods, veneers, laminates, hardware, finishes, and related materials
Develop and manage supplier relationships; negotiate pricing, terms, and freight
Oversee purchase order issuance, lead times, and delivery coordination
Write purchase orders
Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, and Production to align purchasing with project schedules
Monitor material costs, inventory levels, and job budgets
Identify cost-saving opportunities and sourcing improvements
Resolve vendor, delivery, quality, and pricing issues
Establish purchasing procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives
Provide purchasing forecasts, reports, and cost analysis as needed
Qualifications
5+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience in architectural millwork, casework, woodworking, or construction manufacturing
Strong knowledge of wood products, architectural hardware, and finishing materials
Experience managing purchasing for multiple custom projects simultaneously
Proven negotiation and vendor management skills
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, purchase orders, and Microsoft Excel
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Knowledge of AWI / QCP Stanards
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in a Senior Buyer or Purchasing Manager role
Familiarity with architectural drawings and specifications
Experience purchasing for commercial or institutional projects
Knowledge of regional suppliers in the Mid-Atlantic
