Ensure food is provided in a timely, safe manner.Summary of Role:This position serves as a paid, backup driver for the Meals on Wheels distribution team. The role consists of packing meals and delivering them to homebound seniors in the Salem-Keizer community.Areas of Responsibility, Evaluation and Essential Functions:Report for duty between 10am-11am but no earlier than 10am, to the Center 50+ dining room for distribution.Obtain assigned route sheet from staff.Pack up insulated bags with meals and milk in accordance with the route sheet instructions.Deliver meals to clients in the Salem-Keizer area, using a personal vehicle. Mileage reimbursement provided at .56 cents per mile.Provide a general wellness check; may include taking time to chat with clients and see how they are doing.At the end of your route contact the Meals on Wheels staff and let them know if there were any clients you were unable to make contact with.Take route sheet home and shred it or take it back to distribution the next time you deliver meals and the MOW Staff will shred it for you.Contact MOW office immediately if unsafe or concerning conditions are present.Other duties as assigned.Education and/or Experience; Certificates /Licenses/Registrations:Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record to be insured by Food Share Insurance Company.Complete a new driver training with Meals on Wheels staff upon hire.Must pass pre-employment drug screening that excludes THC.Must submit to full background check, including driving record check. Depending on the position sought, a criminal conviction or arrest record does not automatically bar employment with the Food Share.Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to safely drive and deliver meals in a variety of weather conditions.Ability to understand and carry out detailed written and/or verbal instructions independently.Able to work well in a team environment and take direction.Self-motivated and organized.Committed to quality service.Job Conditions:Work is typically performed in the Meals on Wheels dining room, in a personal vehicle, and across the Salem-Keizer community in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings. Will regularly move, lift and carry objects in excess of 30 pounds. Requires bending, stretching and reaching.
