Day Center Coordinator

Location: HOAP Day Center | 694 Church St. NE, Salem OR 97301

Job Status: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Sign-Bonus: $1,000

YOUR ROLE:

We are seeking a Day Center Coordinator for HOAP (Homeless Outreach and Advocacy Project) at Northwest Human Services. We are looking for someone who is a creative problem solver, passionate about serving the houseless population, and eager to support individuals who are working towards their health goals. The Day Center Coordinator will be someone who is flexible, comfortable in fast paced environments, and able to extend compassion during every client interaction.

As our Day Center Coordinator you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations at the HOAP Day Center, actively engaging with clients during Day Center hours and maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the space. You will provide administrative support, which includes scheduling, data collection, inventory, safety inspections, and risk management. The coordinator will collaborate with all team members to ensure the Day Center is safe, welcoming, and inclusive.

This position supervises community and consumer volunteers, “peer associates”, and students/interns.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Ensure the facility and outside areas are clean and in working order & coordinate daily services, such as client showers and laundry.

Identify new and existing consumers that present as high-risk and/or vulnerable and initiate first steps for access to NWHS medical / mental health care services, as well as supportive services. Facilitate staffing of these clients with HOAP Day Center and Outreach staff to problem solve and identify next steps for client-identified supports.

Oversee the management and inventory of supplies (facility & consumer), donations, and other program resources.

Provide administrative support to the Homeless Services Program Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of an associate degree in psychology, sociology, human development, behavioral health, or related field required. Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred in fields listed above.

A combination of three years' relevant work, education or experience in mental health, addictions and/or social services field.

At least 1-2 years of experience with program coordination or lead role in service delivery preferred.

Must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License and reliable mode of transportation (this position requires driving, and a motor vehicle report is conducted prior to hiring).

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
