Responsible for meeting fundraising goals and participating in committee leadership and special projects supporting the Strategic Plan.Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)Manage the safe and efficient preparation of Meals on Wheels home delivery services following all Meals on Wheels People Food Service Manual procedures and Health Department regulationsAchieve client satisfaction benchmarks of the Strategic PlanResponsible for recruitment, management, training, and recognition of volunteersFollow all guidelines to create and maintain a safe work environment for participants and volunteersResponsible for meeting fundraising goals as outlined in the annual fundraising planResponsible for committee leadership and special projects in support of the Strategic PlanDevelop and maintain effective community relations within the assigned service areaManage assigned meal service partnerships and contracts for food-insecure and insular populationsAssist with planning and execution of regional community events that generate awareness of Meals on Wheels People services at the center and the agency, achieving annual fundraising and other community development goals.Ensure Meals on Wheels People property and inventories are properly maintained and securedParticipate in in-service training and attend required meetingsSupport Meals on Wheels People's mission, vision, values, and strategic plan.Other duties as assignedQualificationsEducation & KnowledgeHigh School diploma or equivalent required; Associate certification or two years of work experience in, Gerontology, Management, Social Work, Community Nutrition, or other related field preferredDemonstrated knowledge of food service standardsCurrent Food Handler's card or ability to obtain within two weeks of hireCurrent CPR certification or ability to obtain within six months of hireSkills, Abilities & ExperienceMinimum 2 years of experience in nutrition management or program management positionLanguage proficiency in English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian, or African languages is highly valued. Successfully passing a fluency exam in any of these languages qualifies candidates for an extra $1 per hour pay rate.Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and transportation requiredProven ability to effectively engage and manage a team of employees and volunteersExcellent organizational, record-keeping, time management, and multi-tasking skills, including the ability to set priorities and be flexible to last-minute changesSkill and motivation to work with a multicultural and socially diverse population with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations, including aging, minority, low-income, and persons with disabilitiesProven experience in effectively managing budgets and fundraising activitiesWilling to work extended hours to support special activities and other deadlinesAny satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.Working Conditions/Physical DemandsFast-paced, with significant people interaction.May be required to move up to 50lbs and occasional reaching, bending, and stooping.Ability to operate general office equipment.Travel around the Portland and Vancouver metro areas.Must successfully pass Meals on Wheels People pre-employment screening, including drug testing and a criminal background check.DisclaimerThe preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
