We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in achieving their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life. You will work in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and community environments, ensuring that each individual receives the care and attention they need.
Responsibilities
Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility support.
Provide patient care and monitoring, ensuring the health and safety of residents.
Implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs and preferences.
Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Prepare meals and assist with cooking, ensuring dietary needs are met.
Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties as needed.
Support individuals with memory care, including those with Alzheimer's or dementia.
Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe transfers when necessary.
Monitor vital signs and report any changes in health status to the appropriate personnel.
Experience
Ideal candidates will possess the following skills and experience:
Previous experience working with people with developmental disabilities or in a caregiving role is highly desirable.
Familiarity with first aid, CPR, patient observation, and patient monitoring techniques.
Experience in group home settings or assisted living facilities is a plus.
Knowledge of home health care practices, hospice care, or long-term care experience is beneficial.
Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting residents.
