Lead Finish Carpenter
Oregon, Bend, 97701 Bend USASun Forest Construction is a high-end residential design build firm who have been specializing in quality remodel and custom home projects throughout Central Oregon since 1977.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, constructs, erects, installs and/or repairs interior and exterior structures and fixtures of wood, plywood and wallboard, conforming to local building codes and Sun Forest quality standards. Specializes in high-end quality finish carpentry skills and craftsmanship.
QUALIFICATIONS:
5 Years experience in a residential finish carpentry position.
Valid Oregon driver’s license and driving record that meet insurance requirements.
Must be approved to wear a respirator using OSHA guidelines.
Must have basic set of hand tools.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Must have detailed knowledge of all aspects of interior trim, stair systems, & installation of different types of trim styles.
Detailed knowledge of codes pertaining to interior trim and stair systems.
Must have a thorough knowledge of carpenter tools and practices.
Must have a thorough understanding of wood sanding procedure, including knowledge of wood grain, sandpaper specifications and grits, and hand power sanding tools.
Must have thorough knowledge of standard finish carpenter techniques, such as specialty trims, closet and storage systems.
Must be able to cut and install all types of trim work, hang all types of doors, install base, paneling, and complete specialty trim work such as mantels and built in cabinets.
Must have a working knowledge of architectural drawings and specifications.
Must have a general knowledge of international building codes and allowable construction techniques.
Must have high ethical standards & be able to uphold Sun Forest’s excellent reputation in the business community.
Must be able to make supervisory decisions while upholding SFC standards and production timeline.
Must have the physical ability to meet the demands of the position, which include standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing on 20 ft. ladders and roof slopes (restrained), & reaching, must be able to work productively for long periods of time at all required working heights – usually in the range of 0-30 feet above the ground or nearest building level surface. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds. Will occasionally be exposed to severe weather conditions, and be around construction dust, occasional paint and lacquer fumes, and construction noise. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs interior or exterior repair, remodel or new construction carpentry work as assigned. This could include preparing drawings, material take-offs, framing, siding, cabinet installation, appliance installation, demolition, interior trim, stair systems, closet packages, and hardware installation.
2. Uses knowledge of building codes and construction practices to perform assigned tasks correctly.
3. Responsible for maintaining quality and production standards on jobs assigned.
4. Maintain a clean, safe job site at all times.
5. Helps train and supervise junior level carpenters and apprentices.
6. Represents Sun Forest’s best interests with employees and subcontractors, and reports any issues of concern to Project Managers.
7. Exhibits good judgment, high ethical standards, & reliability at all times, and represents Sun Forest reputably with our clients, staff, suppliers, business associates, and in the community.
