Program Overview:

Camp Fire Afterschool (CFA) is a flexible and fun option for families of youth in K-5th grade looking to balance after school care with enrichment opportunities and social-emotional skill development. Filled with time outdoors, fun challenges, STEAM activities, games and songs, CFA supports youth in exploring their sparks, practicing social skills, creating connections, building community, and gaining confidence. The program runs directly after school between two different sites. Depending on the site you work at, you may work from between 2:15 pm -5:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays, with Wednesday running from between 12:45 PM - 5:30 pm, OR 3:15 pm -5:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays, with Wednesday running from between 1:45 PM - 5:30 pm. Location and hours are flexible.

At No School Day Camps (NSDC) we turn a "day off" into a day of creativity and fun! Each day is themed to give kids the opportunity to find their spark, grow and express themselves in a safe, supportive environment with friends new and old. Programs run from 8:30am-3:30pm with optional extended care hours until 5:15pm.

There are additional optional opportunities to work outreach events, teen events, and more.

Position Overview:

Camp Fire is seeking a caring youth worker to contribute ideas, to supervise youth, and to deliver program activities in our CFA program. This includes:

Developing relationships with youth and supporting youth growth

Leading engaging activities and games

Recognizing and creating social and emotional learning opportunities

Working as part of a team and offering ideas to help the program improve

Following and creating program routines to build community

Managing a safe physical and emotional space for youth

Advocating for program and youth needs to your supervisor as they come up

Schedule:

This is a part-time position Monday - Friday during afterschool program hours. CFA staff are expected to work on a few No School Day Camps throughout the school year (exact dates to be mutually agreed upon with the Program Manager).

Actual days of the week you work to be mutually agreed upon. Please apply if you have interest even if you cannot work every day!

Skill and Qualifications:

Applicants who do not meet all of the qualifications listed below but present other relevant qualifications or experience will be considered. We strongly encourage anyone who feels passionate about this work, has a strong desire to grow their skills, and believes they have what it takes to thrive in this role to apply.

Qualifications:

Experience working directly with elementary aged youth or demonstrated desire to learn OR some higher education, classwork, or training in the youth development field or other related fields

Training and experience with best practices in teaching, group management, planning and designing activities, social-emotional learning, and trauma informed care for elementary youth

First Aid/CPR certified (or ability to get certified by start date or soon after)

Skills:

Commitment to creating and maintaining a safe, equitable, and inclusive environment

Demonstrated ability to create developmental relationships and connect with youth and staff

Ability to effectively manage groups of youth

Strong verbal communication skills with youth

Compensation: $18.50-$20.50 per hour, depending on experience
