Quality Control Director

The Quality Control Director positions plans, coordinates and directs the quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards. The QCD develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and purposed quality and reliability expectations for the finished product. Additionally, this position owns and leads the continuous improvement model for the facility. (I think full sentences for the paragraphs and fragments for bullet points. Just my opinion.)ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: include the following. • Ensures compliance with the customer requirements, quality policy, company standards, regulatory & external standards• Captures, compiles, and presents quality data reports weekly to show visual indicators for current state and trends.• Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications & quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational & performance qualification; writing & updating quality assurance procedures.• Works to develop open communication lines between QC and production to encourage feedback and recommendations• Works directly with suppliers to ensure compliance of supplied materials.• Works with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements for external suppliers.• Writes technical & management system reports.• Drives an interdepartmental group to plan, formulate and agree on comprehensive quality procedures.• Develops, manages, and maintains the Company’s quality inspection and product release programs for incoming and in process materials and components, processes, and finished goods.• Sets quality compliance objectives and ensures that targets are achieved.• Works to stay up-to-date on all regulatory processes that relate to our manufacturing process• Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product quality requirements. • Develops policies and procedures to ensure quality product.• Facilitates analysis and coordinates activities related to process/system improvement projects.• Ability to speak to QC concerns and develop trackable action plans for corrective actions • Jointly, with Plant Manager, the QCD determines QC staffing requirements to meet quality and delivery expectations• Maintains operations data and prepares productivity/quality reports for management.• Directs and coordinates the activities of team engaged in quality functions – including inspection, analysis, and training.• Creates and monitors measurements and tools ensuring employees conform to production or processing standards.• Implements measures to improve inspection methods, equipment/tool performance, product quality, efficiency, and morale.• Communicates with employees and/or management to address employee suggestions or problems.• Generates requisition for materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services based on planned needs.• Provide training as needed.• Other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:• Ability to coach all employees on quality control practices.• Experience with process improvement and managing process.• Ability to address issues in a fast-paced environment.• Ability to prioritize projects.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Organizational and time management skills• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and written.• Proficient with Microsoft Office • Proficient in data gathering and report writingEDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s Degree (Industry related field) preferred, and 3 to 5 years related boat manufacturing & quality control experience-or- equivalent combination of education and experience.• Professional quality certifications as appropriate.
