This role will be responsible for implementing X-ray Fluorescence Test Methods, Radiological Test Methods, Acoustic Microscopy (AM) Test Method, and Suspect/Counterfeit Test Evaluation Methods through Microscope, to identify counterfeit electronic components.The Test Engineer III is within Battelle’s Cyber Trust and Analytics Division and will be located at a client site in San Antonio, TX . Understand and apply various scientific test methods for detection of suspect/counterfeit electronic parts. These methods include but are not limited to x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, radiological test methods, and scanning acoustic microscopy.
Evaluate Suspect/Counterfeit Test Methods to determine the effectiveness and reliability of testing procedures for identifying counterfeit electronic components.
Maintain detailed documentation of test procedures, results, and findings, ensuring compliance with policy and industry standards.
Awareness of non-destructive methods to verify the materials and finishes of EEE parts to compare with the original design, construction, and material requirements.
Ability to calibrate the equipment per advised schedule of the manufacturer.
Set software parameters for scanning and analysis of XRF, AM, Microscope and Radiological equipment.
Knowledge on methods for evaluating packaging integrity, identifying improper labeling, and detecting signs of tampering or sabotage in packaging
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field of study or equivalent with 5 years of experience or master’s degree in related field with 2 years of experience
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to interpret complex test results and counterfeit indicators
Experience with test and measurement equipment
Knowledge of AS6171 industry standards and regulations related to counterfeit mitigation
Must be a sole US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field of study or equivalent with 5 years of experience or master’s degree in related field with 2 years of experience
Ability to work individually and/or in small fast-paced team environments.
Passion and drive to constantly improve your technical expertise.
Familiarity with Configuration Control and Configuration Management.
Familiarity with network protocols and architecture.
Holds an active Top Secret clearance
