Role: Project Manager/Scrum Master

Rate: $105/hour

Effective Date: Immediate

Experience Level: Intermediate 3+ – 7 years

Desired Work Location: Local to Columbus, OH preferred

Contract to Hire: No

Anticipated Duration: 12-18 months

Anticipated Hours per Week: 40 hrs

Certification Required: Scrum Master Certification

Description:This project is currently in the formation phase and the Project Manager’s role will evolve throughout the duration of the project. Initially, the Project Manager’s role will be to gather the requirements, interface with executives and shape the direction of the project. The Project Manager must also help the client conduct an industry scan of off the shelf software through RFI/RFP. Based on the Project Manager’s analysis, they must guide executives towards one of the off the shelf solutions or choose to develop a custom solution. Depending on how the company chooses to move forward, the Project Manager must be prepared to use either the Waterfall or Agile project methodology to manage this project. A Scrum Master Certification is a requirement of this role no matter what solution the company pursues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct project teams and maintain complex work plans for a large-scale technology project
  • Use tools to forecast, plan, estimate, and track project delivery and budget
  • Provide project oversight for performance, cost, scope, schedule, and quality to leadership
  • Execute a wide range of process activities beginning with the requirements definition and continuing through development, test, and final delivery
  • Work with the stakeholder groups to create an overall project work plan (milestones) that incorporates commitments from all stakeholder groups.
  • Facilitate collaboration across multiple functions, departments, and levels and serve as a role model for teamwork
  • Provide status reports to executive leadership teams on potential impacts to scope, budget, quality, risk, and resources
  • Guide the team and organization on how to use Scrum & agile practices and frameworks
  • Oversee Scrum process, coach the team, and facilitate transparent & adaptive team culture
  • Lead Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint and Release Planning meetings in a way that ensures full team engagement
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration inside and outside the team

Qualifications and Skills:
  • 3+ years of project management and leadership experience across IT and business functions
  • Must have excellent leadership skills (proven ability to coach, develop, and lead a team) and must be able to work with a diverse project team consisting of resources from all parts of the organization (both IT & Business)
  • Proven ability to engage and develop relationships with executive sponsors and key stakeholders with clarity and precision
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems and think innovatively
  • Experience with project cost management and resource capacity planning
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management best practices including knowledge of waterfall and agile methodologies and tools

Requirements:
  • Experience working in the Energy and Utility industry
  • Experience or familiarity working with SCADA
  • Must have Scrum Master Certification
