Assembly of various optical and mechanical components within a Class 100 (ISO 5) Clean Room and/or a non clean room lab.
Thrive in a development environment, be able to efficiently and effectively search for and find information to determine and validate the right path forward for the assembly, while also meeting quality, schedule and cost targets for the program.
Lapping various types of materials for flatness, parallelism, and angles to extremely tight tolerancing.
Read and analyze various sources of data including: manufacturing instructions, drawings, blueprints and CAD models.
Effectively diagnose problems and determine effective corrective actions to issues associated with assembly of complex mechanical, optical and electrical components.
Maintain traceability to various components within a kit during assembly.
Assemble, modify and bond hardware with extremely tight tolerances (common tolerances are in microns or <0.001”).
Safely handle sensitive optical components and assemblies (lenses, mirrors, etc) without damaging hardware.
Communicate to various functions on matters of importance to the program including recommending paths forward or design changes to support efficient assembly.
Improve efficiency by developing solutions to reduce & prevent errors, defects, scrap, and rework.
Provide insight and feedback to engineers to help develop and improve manufacturing processes and documentation.
Effectively find and execute new projects during downtime.
Essential Functions:
Works under limited supervision to set objectives for lab area.
Works to achieve operational targets within job area, including schedule and cost.
Influence decision making with respect to projects assigned.
Read, understand, and follow build documentation to complete tasks in accordance with program and company requirements.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associate Degree with a minimum of 2 years prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Familiarity with Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience within a Class 100 (ISO 5) clean room.
Good computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel,Word and PowerPoint.
Ability to read drawings and/or schematics per industry specifications.
Strong hands-on and troubleshooting capabilities.
Familiarity with a variety of hand and test tools/equipment, including torque wrenches and multimeters.
