As a Sr Manager of Software Engineering Java Backend Microservices at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking Global Customer Platform, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.Job responsibilities
Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks
Be accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
Ensures successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders
Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary
Provides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team
Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation
Evaluate new technologies and tools to drive innovation and improve existing systems.
Possess deep expertise in multiple technology domains and technologies such as: Java (Core & EE, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud), Microservices & multi-tier architectures, API - REST, API Gateway, DevOps/CI/CD (GIT/Bitbucket, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Sonar)
Engage with stakeholders, including clients, to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Implement and advocate for agile methodologies and practices.
Makes decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains
Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience . In addition, 2+ years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
Experience leading and managing senior technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives
Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
In-depth knowledge of the services industry and their IT systems
Practical cloud native experience
Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines
Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
Experience establishing vibrant engineering communities and guilds
Expertise in one or more programming language(s), applications, and architecture disciplines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely
Experience working at code level
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
AWS Solutions Architect or Developer certification a plus
Strong Kurbernetes practical knolwedge and certification a major plus
Experience working with AI/ML technologies and architecture is a plus
