Shift Operations Leader (SOL) - Shop Support

We are seeking a Shift Operations Leader for our Shop Support team.In this role, you will embrace and manage the resources and workforce related to the operations of our powder pack and receipt, scrap pack, incinerator, shop support, decontamination, and wastewater operations teams. This team is part of the Fuel Manufacturing Operation (FMO) in the nuclear business and therefore supports activities related to the manufacturing of nuclear fuel for commercial nuclear power plants. Acting as a hands-on leader with your team, you will be responsible for safety, procedure compliance, product quality, efficient product manufacturing, and positive team member engagement.Typical working hours are expected to be 7AM-3PM, but you must be available as needed to support the team. This may require working 12-hour shifts (days) to cover as the Emergency Interim Director. Promote team engagement, growth, ownership, and cross training by ensuring team members are provided adequate training, resources, and support to assure safe manufacturing practices in a nuclear regulated environment.
Be responsible for meeting the team's strict EHS, product quality, and production schedule requirements.
Assure operation planning and provide direction to support the needs of the production area.
Develop, master knowledge, and understand all aspects of the FMO Shop Support Operations.
Focus the team on constantly seeking opportunity for improvement through supporting, encouraging, and facilitating Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement projects.
Work with manufacturing engineering, support functions, and FMO leadership to provide technical, quality, and production leadership.
Promote safe and compliant team operations.
Utilize Microsoft Office and other computer applications to perform duties as needed.
Communicate business goals, programs, and processes to Shop Support Team.
Support manufacturing leaders in the strategic planning of staffing, equipment, and other resources.
Qualify for and maintain Interim Emergency Director (IED) and/or other position(s) in the Emergency Organization (EO) within 12 months of starting the role.
Follow and enforce rules and regulations set forth by GE Power, GEH Nuclear, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and other regulating bodies.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college, university, or equivalent plus minimum 1 year of relevant work experience
OR
High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
Work experience must include at least one of the following:
Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in a nuclear, manufacturing, or technical field; OR
Minimum 2 years technical experience in nuclear or manufacturing operations; OR
Minimum 5 years of operator experience in nuclear operations
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a technical field.
Prior experience as a process leader and with implementing productivity tools.
Experience in/knowledge of nuclear fuel manufacturing, nuclear plant operations, and/or the dry conversion process.
Previous supervision experience in FMO highly desired.
Ability to interpret engineering documentation, such as P & IDs.
Mechanical, chemical, or ceramics engineering experience.
Experience in manufacturing or nuclear procedure and training development.
Proficiency and experience with the Oracle ERP, Kronos, or other relevant applications.
Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing certification.
