Employment Type:Part timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:Saint Francis Healthcare is seeking experienced Phlebotomists to join the team on as needed basis at our hospital!Responsibilities include:

Approaches patients in a professional, caring, friendly, manner. Accurately identifies patients according to policy. Ensures that physician orders are correctly, accurately, and completely entered into the computer system. Ensures that all specimens are collected, transported, and processed using proper procedures and techniques. Ensures that all specimens are correctly and accurately labeled with appropriate information.

Processes specimens and add-on requests for laboratory analysis. Distributes specimens to analytical areas in a timely manner. Follows Universal Precautions, safety precautions and all appropriate policies and procedures when obtaining specimens. Performs laboratory information system (LIS) support services as required. Demonstrates knowledge of contingency plans when the LIS is down.

Performs clerical functions, files laboratory reports and prescriptions and mails client and send out reports. Demonstrates professional, pleasant, helpful, telephone skills. Demonstrates professional, friendly, courteous, interpersonal skills in response to patient needs. Demonstrates professional, friendly, courteous, interpersonal skill in interactions with hospital staff, supervisory staff, co-workers, customers, and patients/family members.

Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement functions. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent and previous phlebotomy experience, or completion of a Phlebotomy course of study with externship

Phlebotomy Certification preferred

Phlebotomy experience with infants and young children

Clerical experience

Previous laboratory information system experience desirable
