FEED MILL MANAGER IN TRAINING
North Carolina, Sanford, 27330 Sanford USAFeed Mill Manage ment Trainee J ob Description Summary/Objective This is a two-year trainee position , which reports to t he Director of Feed Mill Quality Assuranc e, and will focus on developing the individual to be placed in a Feed Mill supervision or management position at the conclusion of the training period . Travel is a requirement of this position. Development Plan The development plan will be structured as follows:
First 6 months working directly with the Director of Feed Mill Quality Assurance, including traveling to co mplexes, attending industry and internal m eetings, and completing training as required by the developmental plan.
The following 6 months working as guided by the Director of Feed Mill Quality Assurance, with approximately half of the candidate’s time spent directly with his/her supervisor .
12 months working and traveling independently, but as indicated by the Director of Feed Mill Quality Assurance with an emphasis on improving milling efficiency and quality assurance processes.
Development Requirements
The trainee will be required to learn and become proficient in the following disciplines required of Feed Mill Management:
Pilgrim’s Management Methods
Learn the fundamentals of Zero Based Budget and Gap Up. B ecome proficient in the m anagement of a facility budget, including controlling cost, forecasting facility needs and planning for capital projects.
Become proficient in the functions of mill automation, Beta Raven and MTech.
Develop f amiliarization with the reports, dashboards and tools required to successfully manage a facility.
Develop the supervisory skills necessary to manage people.
Quality Assurance Methods
Learn the fundamentals of feed quality assurance methods.
Become proficient in determining the root cause of feed and ingredient quality issues.
Educate personnel on Q uality A ssurance methods .
Conduct on-site audits of Quality A ssurance standards .
Regulatory Compliance
Become proficient in FDA, USDA, OSHA and EPA regulatory requirements.
Learn the requirements of Pilgrim’s Animal Food Safety Plan.
Become proficient enough to identify regulatory non-conformances in the facility.
Educate personnel on regulations, policy and compliance .
Conduct on-site audits of regulatory standards .
3 rd Party Customer Programs
Become proficient in 3 rd party certification programs for complexes with value-added product claims.
Attend certification audits to ensure audit deficiencies and corrective actions are completed at the complex level.
Support these facilities to ensure the integrity of all processes related to 3 rd party certification programs.
Conduct on-site audits of 3 rd party certified complexes to ensure the integrity of product claims are achieved.
Additional Responsibility
Mana ge the regulatory dashboard and notification system
Support the fe ed mills with Beta Raven, FDSA and FMIM
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are determined by the needs of the facilities. This job will require travel up-to 30 weeks per year and work requires visiting feed mills, hatcheries, grow-out and processing facilities.
Required Education and Experience
Work - related e xperience in feed milling , quality assurance, animal food safety and regulatory compliance is required . Work - related experience in the implementation and management of quality a ssurance methods and 3 rd party certification programs is preferred . A degree in Poultry Science , Feed Science or a food safety related field is preferred.
