Must apply methods and general procedures of applicable trades/maintenance techniques and develop skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment appropriate to trade. May be asked to perform work in a specialty area or perform tasks requiring specialized skills in multiple trades. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction and design of facility components requiring the application of skills in planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, communication and adherence to safety. May serve as lead technician and/or crew leader, directing the work of others. Position may be required to possess and maintain required certification, licensure, educational level, and/or experience criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow applicable building codes.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThe successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of high pressure steam-generation, condensation and distribution systems; knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and mechanical systems; knowledge of the principles and method of acetylene and electric welding; Applications; ability to operate electronic controls, power tools, and hand tools; ability to follow instructions and be proactive; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; ability to work flexible schedules; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills. A valid driver’s license is required.Minimum Education/ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
