Hourly Rate: $18.19Various Shifts : Weekdays 10:00am-2:00pm & 5:30pm-9:00pm; Weekends 9:00am-2:00pm Position supervises a gymnasium, athletic field, or specialized facility such as a wellness center or weight room. Incumbent supervises diverse age groups in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, maintains order and discipline, issues and collects equipment, observes and enforces safety regulations, provides customer service, and performs record keeping. Instructions and preliminary orientation/training are given initially, after which incumbents are expected to follow established policies and procedures. Work schedule may include varying hours, including evenings and weekends. Duties/Responsibilities
Conducts preparations for a specific sport or activity.
Surveys and maintains facility condition, ensures that custodial and upkeep tasks are being completed, and addresses hazardous areas.
Monitors the facility once game or activity is in progress, supervises scorekeeping and game operations.
Maintains activity and attendance records.
Inspects equipment for safety and cleanliness.
Prepares rooms for variety of programs, meetings, rentals, etc. by organizing furniture and/or equipment according to program or rental plans and then restoring to original setup at the conclusion of the program.
Disseminates program information, memos, and schedule changes to team representatives.
Makes decisions with assistance of game officials to cancel games due to inclement weather.
Demonstrates fitness equipment to patrons and explains how to safely mount and dismount equipment (if assigned to a facility with a weight room).
Maintains a computer lab, enforces proper usage, keeps computers and printers in regular working order, reports maintenance needs, and regulates volume and other settings (if assigned to a facility with a computer lab).
Completes accident reports, rules of conduct violation reports, officials’ evaluations, and league standings.
Provides program information, orientation, and instructions to participants.
Observes necessary precautions to secure the safety of participants and spectators.
Renders first aid in case of minor injury.
KNOWLEDGE OF :
Rules for a variety of sports such as softball, baseball, basketball, etc.
When assigned to a wellness center or weight room: knowledge of weight training and cardiovascular fitness principles.
SKILL IN :
Interacting positively with the public.
Communicating instructions effectively to individuals and groups.
Exercising initiative and good judgment.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
High School diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC).
One (1) year of experience supervising recreation activities.
At least 18 years of age.
Valid Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED – with Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine Auto Injector Certification or obtain within the first six months of employment.
Additional Preferred Skills
Effectively communicate instructions to participants and enforce rules.
