About this role:Wells Fargo is seeking a highly experienced Platform Architect to support the growing ecosystem of integrations and API based applications by leading the design, development, and enablement of scalable and secure API integrations.In this role, you will:
Lead the implementation of complex projects and initiatives that have companywide scope
Assist in the creation of architectural artifacts for key technology initiatives
Participate in the definition of future technology architecture and strategy
Identify medium to high architectural impact project
Conduct complex technology and system assessments for architecture solutions
Communicate the companywide Architecture strategy and direction to both management and systems related teams
Make decisions in the development and maintenance of architectures
Understand compliance and risk management requirements for supported areas
Ensure applications adhere to established Wells Fargo standards, policies, methodologies and industry best practices
Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Lead the architecture, design, and development of scalable and secure API integration patterns with existing API orchestration platforms for both internal and external API services.
Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to define and design API strategies.
Develop integration architectures that enable smooth connectivity between legacy systems, public and private cloud environments, and partner APIs.
Implement API design best practices, ensuring APIs are modular, reusable, and adhere to RESTful standards and microservices architecture.
Work closely with product teams to design and develop APIs that enable new services, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user needs.
Create standards for API documentation and drive adherence to the standards, ensuring that APIs are well-documented, easy to consume, and compliance with industry standards.
Partner with enterprise architecture governance to mature and evolve API governance processes, including versioning, testing, and monitoring.
Collaborate with DevOps and security teams to ensure secure API design and implementation, including the use of OAuth2, JWT, TLS, and other security protocols.
Optimize API performance, focused on reducing latency, improving throughput, and ensuring scalability across the bank's platforms.
Integrate APIs with monitoring, logging, and analytics tools to track API usage, performance, and reliability.
Guide and mentor development teams on API design patterns, integration techniques, and best practices to ensure high-quality delivery.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Systems Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
4+ years of experience across API architecture, integration, and design, with a strong background in developing and managing APIs in an enterprise environment.
3+ years of hands-on experience working with RESTful APIs, SOAP services, and microservice architectures.
3+ years of hands-on experience writing, designing, and consuming API specifications including OpenAPI, RAML, or Swagger.
2+ years of experience automating deployment of APIs via CI/CD pipelines, automating testing, and ensuring continuous management of APIs.
Desired Qualifications:
Strong understanding of API management platforms such as Apigee, Mulesoft, or Kong.
Proven experience designing and developing APIs for legacy systems, public and private cloud platforms, and third-party integrations.
Deep knowledge of API security standards, including OAuth2, JWT, and encryption technologies.
Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.) for tracking API performance and reliability.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
