Bring your big ideas knowing you are safe to be who you are and speak up with concerns or questions and put your diverse talents and perspectives to use.The OpportunityAs the Principal Consultant, Digital Grid you will have the opportunity to provide consulting services and offer expertise and guidance in Grid Operations Transformation with a focus on Operational Technologies (OT) and supporting Information Technology (IT) systems and applications for Advanced Distribution Infrastructure such as Electric Distribution SCADA/Outage Management System (OMS)/Distribution Management System (DMS), Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS), Distribution Automation (DA) and Enterprise OT-IT Integration. As the Managing Principal Consultant, you will manage and/or participate in a team of business and technology consultants in defining strategy and roadmap, developing solutions and requirements, and supporting the clients in their digital transformation (technology, business processes, data, and organizational readiness). Manage client engagement for complex, transformational programs
Lead a medium to large size effort or a project team
Provides technical and industry knowledge to contribute to or lead multiple engagements
Lead business process and technical requirement workshops with clients
Perform business readiness and change management assessment in support of clients going through technology transformation
Demonstrate consulting capabilities with minimal level of oversight from more senior level professionals.
Contribute to the Black & Veatch Management Consulting Digital Grid practice (best practices, team development)
Business Development Responsibilities:
Contribute to the business development process as a subject matter expert (SME)
Support account manager and/or sales team to understand clients’ business needs and help them to develop compelling presentations, proposals, and Statement of Work (SOW)
Promote thought leadership in OT and Smart Grid technologies by contributing to white papers, developing partnership opportunities and go-to-market strategies
Contribute to development of new service offerings
Matrix Management Responsibilities:
Transfer knowledge, capabilities, and skills to improve others’ knowledge and skill levels.
Provide ongoing feedback to professionals on the projects and their supervisors.
Contribute to the career development of others through engagement assignments and general evaluation
Delegate work duties according to the development opportunities and needs of individuals
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or similar Technical domain
10 years of experience in Energy and Utilities industry, including 5 years of Smart Grid and/or Operational Technologies
Direct experience in software/solution implementation and/or business integration of OT-IT systems in more than one client
Prior experience in business development support, solutions development, and proposals
Strong Project Management and Consulting skills
Prior experience in managing a consulting team
Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%
Master's degree
Demonstrated expertise in IT implementation projects, Delivery leadership, Organizational Change Management, and Business Process Improvement
Professional Project Manager, PMI-PMP or equivalent.
Agile Project Methodology execution experience.
Deep knowledge of and direct experience in implementation of two or more solution areas: ADMS, Outage Management System, Distribution Automation, DERMS, Substation Control and Protection systems, Operational Communication Infrastructure, or Crew Dispatch.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience
Has managed significant engagements
10+ years in a business/consulting environment
