This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, analyzes accounting and internal control systems, and guides departmental staff. The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and will be located in the Charlotte, North Carolina region.Major responsibilities
Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required Requirements - Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Month end closings experience
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
CPA or MBA preferred
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing
Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Strong attention to detail
