Digital Lab Test / Field Service Engineer
New York, Syracuse, 13201 Syracuse USAJob DescriptionWe are looking for someone with a solid background in CATV maintenance or Engineering to test product operation and specifications, Report results of the tests, train and support our domestic customers. Testing will include hardware, firmware, and software operation, and communicating the results and your recommendations to engineering, your management and support teams, and customers. Training will include virtual and in-person training of Arcom products. Classroom training involves discussions on product usage and understanding, supported by various PowerPoint presentations and videos. Classroom training is followed by field and/or test lab exercises for hands-on instruction with troubleshooting techniques. This position requires an independently motivated and flexible person with a strong background in CATV engineering or maintenance, good command of the English language with good verbal, social, and presentation skills. Candidates should possess at least High School equivalency educationhigher education, vocational, and certified training is a plus.Testing: Use CATV, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals to operate and test new and modified products. Use Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, multi-meters and various CATV specific signal strength meters during testing Report on results. Recommend improvements in operation. New productso Test functionality and performance. In the 'parking lot' using locally generated radiated signals. Drive-outs, either at a local or a customer location. Arcom will supply the equipment.o Show bug repeatability, followed by bug resolution verification. Existing productso Evaluate and address customer complaints.o Evaluate Customer requests and modifications. If reasonable, then elevate the request to Engineering for potential improvements.o Test and release improvements.Customer Service: Support customers at all levels by answering simple questions to solve complex challenges. Build relationships with anyone from the entry-level tech to the company CEO. Internal customers inclusive. There are assigned regions. Your focus would be on your regions. Customers in other SE regions are assisted at the home office as their typical SE is unavailable. The region currently available is the Western USSales Personnel and Customer Telephone support: General questions. Hardware and Software setup and operation guidance and instruction. System server adjustments: On the fly or planned adjustments. Virtual meetingsIn-Person Training: Train Cable Television Maintenance Technicians in correct operations and CATV system troubleshooting using Arcom Products. During a busy training schedule, travel 3 weeks, with home office the 4th week. Try to schedule a full-week travel. If you are only there for one day, other sales personnel may ask that you relocate to another customerusually by car. Training can be in one location or spread out across a state. Relocating usually occurs after a training session so that you will be at the following site the next day. We prefer training that consists of a 23-hour classroom session and lunch, followed by 2-3 hours of hands-on experience in the field. Some customers prefer 'lab' style training. With Lab-Style training, you may run two complete sessions per day. Training times are flexible. It's rare, but if the customer needs a very late or very early session, we accommodate.Virtual Training: Teams, Zoom, Web-Ex, whatever platform is preferred by the customer.Travel: Usually travel Monday through Friday. Rarely travel Sunday night and take red-eyes home Friday nights depending on customer needs. One travel agency handles all general transportation and hotel. Uber, Shuttles, etc. are handled on your own. Travel is periodic but could be three consecutive weeks.
