New York State Respiratory Therapist (RT) license with current registration, including credentials received prior to 9/1993. Minimum 3 years experience in respiratory care. Home care and Pulmonary Rehab experience preferred. Ability to communicate effectivelyDemonstrate clinical excellence.RESPONSIBILITIES Interviews, screens and exercise tests referred patients to determine their eligibility for the program according to department policies and procedures established by the medical director. Attends to patient during exercise training sessions and monitors performance. Accurately assesses pulmonary response to exercise including O2 sat levels, respiration and other cardio-pulmonary indicators. Recognizes abnormal responses to exercise. Assesses complications and assists with emergency treatment as directed. Interacts with multidisciplinary team for appropriate interventions and change in therapy. Maintains accurate records and documentation of patient progress. Assists in writing and implementing plan of care for incoming patients, and reviews at regular intervals with medical director. Provides patient instruction for warm-ups, proper use of equipment, and exercise procedures. Provides continuous education and guidance to the patient and family in pulmonary rehab with regard to risk factor modification and the rehabilitative process. Ensures that the patient has a good understanding of safe and appropriate activity levels.Maintains professional competence, teaching ability, verbal and written communication skills and effective interaction with individuals and groupsDevelops and participates in group educational sessions for members as well as program development for individuals with various comorbidities.Completes all required documentation according to both hospital and departmental policy including administrative duties as assigned by management.Creates a plan of care to ensure quality, quantity, timeliness and effectiveness of service, working with nursing and exercise physiologist staff as needed. Maintains periodic reassessments and implements plan modification based on treatment or program changes to assure that services are appropriate and cost effective and the client is meeting expected outcomesInitiates patient phone calls, orders forms, assists in patient scheduling, and participates as needed in the implementation of new patient programs. EDUCATION: AS (Required)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)RT - Respiratory Therapist - New York State Education Department (NYSED)PAY RANGE: $32.50 - $43.50The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future.
