JOB SUMMARY The EHS Manager will manage a comprehensive and well-integrated Environmental, Health, and Safety program including maintaining compliance with all applicable EHS regulations, chair steering committees, monthly reporting of various metrics, developing corrective actions, and interfacing with all internal departments as well as external professionals. STATUS: Full Time LOCATION: Rochester, NY DEPARTMENT: Environmental, Health and Safety JOB TYPE: Exempt ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a balance of spending time on the shop floor for employee safety interaction along with maintaining required time to complete necessary reports and desk work
Plan, organize, and lead the facility for safety, health, and environmental program and policy management
Perform inspections and audits to ensure compliance with applicable Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities including agencies such as OSHA, EPA, NYSDEC, NYSDOH, etc.
Review, develop, and implement EHS policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Assist, implement, and conduct required OSHA and internal safety training for all new hires, including employee annual refresher training
Maintain, implement, and complete accurate internal and external procedures, processes, reports, documentation, and logs as it relates to health and safety for the facility
Communicate to and train personnel as required
Manage environmental programs and permits including but not limited to: NYSDEC air permit, NYSDEC petroleum bulk storage, EPA Risk Management Plan, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) plan, USEPA Tier II, USEPA Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), and Monroe County wastewater permitting and program management including monthly sampling
Manage Safety & Health programs including but not limited to: confined space, ergonomics, hazard communication, fall protection, fire safety, hoists and cranes, hot work, life safety (including egress and emergency evacuation), lock out/tag out, machine guarding, powered industrial trucks, personal protective equipment (PPE), hearing conservation and noise monitoring, and asbestos, lead, and radiation safety
Lead contact for OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and USEPA Risk Management Program (RMP) process for ammonia system; manage program requirements such as internal audits, process hazard analysis, internal program review, and supporting the PSM Coordinator as a plant resource
Perform EHS triple bottom line (3BL) metric development, reporting, and goal setting
Lead Safety Pillar Team in which EHS gaps are identified and gap closure plans are outlined, implemented, and tracked to ensure gaps are remedied appropriately
Manage accident process including but not limited to: assessing treatment options, conducting post-accident investigations, and preparing root cause/corrective action (RCCA) reporting for use by company personnel and senior management
Support Medical Department in the Worker’s Compensation process and log required OSHA accident reports as outlined by OSHA
Ensure proper safety equipment, required permits, and yearly testing is available and/or completed for personnel so they may perform their duties (this may include but is not limited to: PPE access, first aid station materials, hearing tests, hot work permits, LOTO equipment, and confined space classifying)
Participate in all regulatory, 2nd and 3rd party audits as if relates to EHS
LOTO program development including working closely with other departments to prepare finished work instructions for new installations and quarterly union gainsharing review of existing LOTO’s
Lead near miss review team and support corrective actions from this process to prevent reoccurrence of the near miss
Perform safety surveys and audits while preparing written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective/preventative measures where indicated, and verify measures have been properly implemented
Actively exhibit a commitment to support a diverse and inclusive work environment

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or related discipline
CSP, PE, CHMM, or CIH certification(s) preferred
10+ years of experience in the EHS field
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Experience managing a comprehensive safety program
Extensive experience with OSHA, EPA, DEC, DOT, and DOH regulations
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience interfacing with various regulatory agencies and auditors
Ability to work independently and manage a diverse workload with minimal supervision
Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
