Job Description:

Our investment banking client is looking to fill a

Linux Systems Engineer / Administrator with Cloud experience, a Full Time Associate level role with responsibilities for the Linux environment including engineering, implementation and support. The candidate MUST have knowledge of Red Hat Linux and have overall Linux experience. The role is open due to additional growth in the client's Distributed Computing Support group. You will work in a fast-paced team environment supporting our Trading floor, Middle, and Back Office users.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE:
  • The position is remote for now but in the the future will be primarily located in the client's mid-town New York City office with occasional visits to the Data Center in Jersey City.
  • All candidates must be able to work without visa transfer.

THE DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support business and technical Linux projects to improve the computing and network infrastructure.
  • Provide Linux system administration, and Linux systems engineering.
  • Configure, install, and maintain Linux systems.
  • Lock down Linux systems based upon security requirements.
  • Help to run annual Linux security recertification.
  • Research, diagnose, and resolve complex Linux system software and hardware issues as they arise.
  • Provide input to security relevant documentation such as Policies and Procedure and Security Controls Documentation.
  • Lead the Linux Security Patching Process.
  • Help design and implement Linux configuration management, monitor systems, and networks.
  • Maintain Linux Hardware and Linux Software End of Life.
  • Manage Linux annual maintenance renewals.

THE SKILLS YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB:
  • Hands-on experience administering/maintaining Linux.
  • Ability to configure Linux Operating Systems, applications, and user settings.
  • Experience building physical systems and Virtual Machines for Linux.
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot Linux issues.
  • Experience applying security patches to Linux operating systems, applications and network peripherals.
  • Experience troubleshooting Linux operating systems and applications.
  • Experience installing, configuring and operating network services such as DNS, DHCP, NFS, SSH, SAMBA, AD.
  • Cloud experience - AWS and/or Azure.
  • Experience with writing scripts.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
