New York, New york city 00000 New york city USALOVE "Dancing with the Stars", Vegas and Broadway shows?
We are the team that does their shoes!
Located in Midtown West, we are a specialty shoe business the ultimate source of ballroom, tango, salsa and theatrical dance shoes. We also have a retail showroom in Los Angeles that caters to the film and television industry which is located just south of UCLA.
TO APPLY:
Submit your resume in PDF format. Also, please let us know the best time for us to call you for a brief phone interview.
Only qualified applicants will be called.
REQUIREMENTS:
All of our teammates are expected to be tough-minded, motivated, smart and talented individuals. So while retail experience is great, it is NOT essential for the right candidate. Professional attitude, initiative, positive outlook, patience, and poise required. Fluency in other languages such as Russian, Mandarin or Spanish is a definite plus. Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time, climb stairs and ladders, bend, and lift up to 20 lbs is essential and required. Visual acuity capable of performing QC inspection of shoes to quickly identify blemishes and client fit issues is also essential and required. This is an on-the-books position, and legal status to work is required.
One last requirement MUST LOVE DOGS.
We have them. We love them. They are part of the work environment. Sometimes none are here, sometimes only 1 is here, and it is possible there could be more. If you are afraid or allergic to dogs or cannot handle the challenges they sometimes present, this is not the place for you.
RESPONSIBILITIES
For our retail shoe crew responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
helping clients by selling shoes
receiving product
packaging/labeling
data entry of client and product info
doing inventories
shipping
basic store maintenance and cleaning
You will learn a lot about our product and industry so that you will be able to help our clients and provide them with the correct options for their needs. We do offer growth opportunities for advancement to higher-level retail as well as other positions, and we like to groom from within.
FULL TIME & CONSISTENT &; FLEXIBLE PART-TIME POSITIONS
We are ideally looking for both candidates who want a full time position with growth potential to management as well as consistent part-time work meaning once we work out a schedule with you, we don’t generally change it. But, we know that retail tends to attract students who have mid-terms, finals, and changing schedules per semester – so we do our best to be flexible, too. That said STRONG preference will be given to candidates who are interested in FULL TIME of 30 hours or more per week. For Part Time candidates, you need to be able to commit to TWO Saturdays a month (12:00 to 4:30pm) and at least two other 4-hour shifts per week.
OUR BUSINESS HOURS
Since COVID, we had to restructure our business hours. Right now our business hours are Tuesdays thru Fridays from 12:00pm to 6:30pm and Saturdays from 11:00am until 4:30pm. We are currently CLOSED on Sundays and Mondays but we are hoping to expand hours in 2025.
We offer half-day shifts from 12:30pm to 4:00pm (which we call the "WALTZ" shift) and from 3:30pm to 6:30pm (which we call the "TANGO" shift). There is only 1 shift on a Saturday. We hope that within the next 12 months that we will increase hours and be able to offer even more hours and shifts for our team members.
DRESS CODE
Our company has a corporate casual dress code with a black, white, and gray color palette. That means black pants, jeans or capris and plain black, white or gray tops no logos. “Banker’s wear” as well as skirts, dresses or any clothing that could impede someone’s ability to climb ladders, lift boxes, or bend are not appropriate. That said, sweats, hoodies, crop tops and/or workout wear are also not appropriate. Finally, for safety reasons, open-toed shoes and closed-toe shoes with heels higher than 1.25” are not permitted.
