Beam Camp Seeks Sous Chef

Beam Camp, a Sleepaway summer camp for kids aged 9-17, Seeks a sous chef to join us for our 2026 summer program. Beam is a summer camp in Strafford, NH for the fine and manual arts where each summer campers collaborate on a spectacular project. Beam Campers cultivate hands-on skills while exploring innovative thinking, design and the creative process. They transform ideas into artifacts and personal achievement into community success. They also have a lot of fun.

For those unfamiliar working in a summer camp community, there are many aspects to the position that are atypical when compared to more traditional kitchen roles. Beam Camp staff live on-site at camp unless otherwise arranged with camp leadership. Dining Hall staff work 6 days per week with breaks between meal periods. Staff who enjoy this experience to the fullest are typically the ones who allow themselves to enjoy the program and have fun with the work we do together, thinking of their role in the Dining Hall as an opportunity to create in collaboration with campers, and contribute to the common goal of having a life changing summer camp experience.

I am writing now as the camp director, but began as the dishwasher and worked every role in the kitchen and beyond at camp. The Kitchen remains one of my favorite places to be while at camp.

Beam Camp is located in Strafford, NH, but we are based in Brooklyn, NY during the year, so transportation will be provided between camp and NYC and the beginning and end of the summer.
