Lead Bartender for Zero-Proof Cocktail Bar
New York, New york city 00000 New york city USAJob Title: Lead Bartender
Location: Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY
Job Type: Hourly ($20/hr plus tips)
About Mockingbird: Mockingbird is an upscale zero-proof cocktail bar located in Park Slope, Brooklyn. We specialize in crafting creative, non-alcoholic cocktails and offer an extensive selection of non-alcoholic beers and wines. As an equal opportunity employer, we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
Job Summary: We are seeking a talented and passionate Lead Bartender to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in the non-alcoholic space, with a flair for creativity and innovation in mixology. While experience in non-alcoholic beverages is preferred, it is not mandatory. Knowledge of common bartending techniques and a strong desire to continually learn new methods are crucial.
The lead bartender position encompasses all that bartenders do with added responsibilities. While the assistant manager is always available to act as an arbiter and final word via phone, we trust that our lead bartender is able to make discretionary calls with the help of SOP texts as needed. The lead bartender is the final authority on the floor when acting in accordance with Mockingbird policy.
The lead bartender is responsible for opening the bar, taking inventory at that time, preparing for the shift, and finally divvying up cash tips at the end of the shift. Lead bartenders conduct inventory and communicate that to the assistant manager before each shift. Lead bartenders have an in-depth knowledge of our menu, our mission statement, and NA mixology principles that can be communicated succinctly to customers. Lead bartenders MUST have a food protection certificate or acquire one before their first shift.
Responsibilities:
Craft and execute a high-caliber menu of non-alcoholic cocktails.
Manage and train bar staff, ensuring high standards of service and expertise.
Oversee bar operations, including inventory management.
Engage with guests to provide a memorable and bespoke bar experience.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements:
2+ years of bartending experience in a high-end bar or restaurant.
Ability to stand for 6-7 hours per day and lift up to 50lbs.
Basic computer skills for managing inventory and processing orders.
Must have previously completed the DOHMH food protection course or be willing to obtain it before starting employment.
Availability to work weekends and evenings.
