We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Line Cook to join our private club's culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing menu items to order, maintaining a high standard of food quality, and ensuring consistency in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role requires strong culinary skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to deliver an exceptional dining experience.
Responsibilities:
Mise en Place and Station Setup:
- Prepare and organize all necessary ingredients and tools at your station before each shift, ensuring a complete mise en place for efficient service.
- Keep your station well-stocked and replenished throughout the shift to minimize delays in service.
- Perform regular station cleanup and reorganization to maintain an orderly workspace, supporting smooth transitions between shifts.
Food Preparation and Cooking:
- Prepare and cook various menu items, including appetizers, entrees, and sides, according to recipes and presentation standards.
- Follow proper portion control guidelines to ensure consistent quality and presentation.
- Operate various kitchen equipment, such as grills, ovens, and fryers, safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation throughout the shift.
- Ensure that all food items are stored properly and rotated for freshness according to food safety standards.
Kitchen Support:
- Assist the culinary team with daily prep tasks, including chopping, slicing, and marinating as needed.
- Contribute to event and banquet preparations by supporting the kitchen staff with bulk cooking, plating, and service setup.
- Assist with the expediting and plating of dishes during service to maintain a smooth kitchen flow.
Inventory and Cost Control:
- Monitor inventory levels for assigned station items and notify the chef of low stock or supply needs.
- Adhere to portion control and quality standards to manage food costs and reduce waste.
Other Responsibilities:
- Contribute to a positive work environment and support a culture of teamwork and professionalism.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or kitchen management team.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a line cook or similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
- Strong understanding of cooking techniques, portion control, and kitchen operations.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not required.
