Job DescriptionThe Office of Chief Medical Examiner investigates cases of persons who die within New York City from criminal violence, by accident, by suicide, suddenly when in apparent health, when unattended by a physician, in a correctional facility or in any suspicious or unusual manner or where an application is made pursuant to law for a permit to create a body of a person. We exist to provide answers in support of families, victims, and community during times of profound need.The core values of the OCME are to put the mission of the agency first, to be truly dedicated and to have integrity in every aspect of our professional life. Under supervision of the Executive Director of Mortuary Operations the selected candidate will:

Provide oversight of the Administrative and Operational leads of the Fleet & Logistics Unit.

Handle personnel matters of all unit members including timekeeping, attendance tracking, evaluations, and discipline.

Develop the daily operational plan for the Unit and provide direction to the staff in order to execute.

Conduct and attend meetings internally and with external partners regarding OCME Fleet & Logistics operations.

Ensure and maintain agency operational readiness and inventory records of all Fleet & Logistics equipment.

Develop and submit the Agency long-term Fleet replacement plan.

Communicate with the Forensic Operations Directors regarding Fleet & Logistics operations.

Evaluate and monitor Unit staff performance.

Serve as the Agency Transportation Coordinator in accordance with DCAS Fleet rules.

Assist in performing work tasks of subordinates when necessary.

Qualifications1.Master’s degree from an accredited college in emergency management, public health, disaster management, emergency preparedness/administration, public administration, or related field and one (1) year of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following area(s): emergency preparedness planning/management, emergency medical services, fire or public safety, law enforcement, homeland security, public health, mental health, environmental/occupational health and safety or a related specialized area; or2.A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one of the areas described in “1” above; or3.A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.
