The goal is to unlock the full potential in each colleague – empowering our people to grow as insurance professionals and add more value to our customers and AIG.Reporting to the Head of Retail Property, the Zonal Executive will be primarily responsible to execute the geographic underwriting strategy for Retail Property. The role has a significant external focus and requires planning, communication and execution of broker growth strategies throughout the zone. The Zonal Executive will work closely with the Head of Retail Property and the Retail Property Practice leaders to achieve balanced sustainable growth. Develop, implement, and execute business strategies to maximize penetration, retention, growth, and profitability within Retail Property.
Ensure alignment between the underwriting platform and Distribution, Claims, Actuarial, Finance and other functions to achieve product and company goals.
Support an underwriting vision that recognizes changing business and competitive environment dynamics, key business drivers, and financial elements to demonstrate the value we bring to our clients and brokers.
Work with Product Head and Practice Leaders to manage established product objectives, make product direction decisions in response to market conditions, and provide product-specific training within and outside the respective Division.
Ensure the required standards of governance, systems and controls, and regulatory compliance are established and maintained.
Drive underwriting excellence across the business by establishing and ensuring adherence to risk appetite, line setting, standards and guidelines, and ensure rating and pricing adequacy.
Oversee less experienced managers and team leads including developing talent acquisition strategy to ensure the best talent is in place to underwrite the products offered within division.
Plan, manage, and evaluate performance of staff, as well as collaborate regarding pay, performance management, employment, and staffing dedicated to the product line.
In collaboration with HR, develop tools and strategies to attract and retain top industry talent and develop high performing teams.
Establish strong relationships with regional leadership; create mutual understanding of overall parameters and goals to drive effective execution of business model.
Interact with all levels of Insurance community.
Drive a culture that promotes collaboration, diversity, and inclusion.
What you’ll need to succeed
Proven collaborative, strategic leadership skills in developing vision and purpose, driving for results and leading effective teams.
Demonstrated excellent marketing, influencing, negotiating and communication skills.
Proven insurance business development background.
Talent assessment and development for bench strength and succession planning.
Strong influencing and communications skills and ability to work across multiple areas of company and industries.
Change management and team leadership. Internal and external thought leadership.
Minimum 10 years of insurance leadership experience, oversight over multiple products and geographies, as well as staff management experience.
Minimum 15 years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency, or Brokerage experience.
Proven strategic leadership skills in developing vision and purpose, driving for results, and leading effective teams.
Knowledge of market segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition and distribution.
Understand regulatory and compliance processes.
Must be able to Forecast and budget accurately.
Broad insurance industry experience.
Established strong relationships with customers and intermediaries.
Skilled leader of change; versatile, client focused, results oriented.
Demonstrated business savvy, analytical, and quantitative skills.
Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
For positions based in New York City, the base salary range is $260,000-$310,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
