Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of control systems and components, equipment, and machinery.
May be responsible for the installation and operational qualification of tool/jig, equipment, control system, PLC based hardware and software plus all associated documentation at all facility locations.
May use computer-assisted engineering, design software and equipment to perform assignments.
Applies principles and techniques of electrical/mechanical engineering to accomplish goals.
Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains products/equipment.
Trains employees, identifies, analyzes, and repairs product failures, orders and replaces parts as needed.
Determines and recommends which products or services best fit the project needs.
Demonstrates Company core values of honesty, integrity, and respect.
Other duties/projects as assigned.
Impact
Provides daily maintenance in specialized areas that require a multi-disciplinary base of technical understanding for complex troubleshooting, modification, assembly and/or testing.
Communicates with Plant Engineering Manager to gain approval/escalate necessary changes for plant maintenance.
Work is generally independent and collaborative.
Safety Responsibilities
Following all rules, regulations and procedures set forth in the safety manual.
Promoting safety awareness throughout the workplace.
Alerting supervisors to any safety hazards they discover.
Wearing appropriate, proper protective equipment whenever required.
Using guards on tools and machinery whenever required.
Following proper lifting techniques using legs and not the back.
Operating any vehicles, equipment, tools or machines only if they are authorized to do so.
Reporting any injury or loss immediately to the supervisor/team lead.
Promoting a positive attitude about safety and never performing any unsafe practice that could place the employee or others in danger.
Providing information to their immediate supervisor if a better and safer procedure can be implemented in performing any operation.
Assure when designing or modifying equipment/workstations that ergonomics and safety are reviewed and work to minimize hazards through engineering controls, administrative controls and lastly personal protective equipment.
Assure Job Hazard and Equipment Hazard Analysis are completed timely as required per MNG.008.
Independent Judgment
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Analysis/Problem Solving
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.
Communication
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Skills/Technical Skills
Proficient in most, if not all, of the following competencies/skills: Instrument Control, Performance Analysis, Power Management, Process Optimization, Reliability Analysis, Schematic Capture, Statistical Process Control, Technical Troubleshooting, Control Systems, Device Integration, SCADA Architecture, Programmable Logic Control (PLC) write/edit/program/troubleshoot, Human Machine Interface (HMI), Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Software.
Familiar with a variety of electrical and control system concepts, practices, and procedures including Servo Motors/Drives.
Familiar with medical device equipment design concepts, practices, and procedures.
Proficient in SolidWorks or another type of design software (ACAD, Pro-E, etc.)
Equipment/system design (mechanical and electrical)
Hands on ability (basic electro-mechanical, wiring, etc)
Robotics experience/training.
Knowledge
Understands regulated type industries a plus.
Knowledge of medical device manufacturer and supplies knowledge a plus.
World-class manufacturing knowledge a plus.
Experience in creating BOM for projects.
Design control systems.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
This position may require domestic and international travel.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Automation or Controls Engineering, Electrical or Industrial Engineering, required.
Experience
4-7 years related experience in the field or in a related field.
