The Payroll Specialist will apply advanced payroll knowledge and skills to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and meet strict deadlines. In addition, this position will have an advanced working knowledge of the Lawson Payroll system in addition to Kronos Time and Attendance and Perceptive/Image Now. Strict adherence to Catholic Health policies and procedures is required to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing. Maintaining a working knowledge of Catholic Health pay practices, benefits, and State & Federal wage guidelines is required. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing federal and state tax payments, quarterly payroll tax returns, and W-2's. The role serves as a liaison for the organization supporting Catholic Health Managers and Associates on payroll matters. This position will work closely with the Catholic Health Human Resources Service Center fielding questions regarding all aspects of the payroll function. Additional responsibilities also include, but not limited to reconciling payroll deductions, payroll adjustments, electronic transmissions & calculation of Disability and Worker's Compensation. Responsibilities of this position may also include setting up Positive Pay, IVR Profile, and Percent Allocation as needed.Responsibilities:EDUCATION

Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field required;

Five (5) years of experience in lieu of degree

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of two to four (2-4) years Payroll experience required, preferably within a healthcare system

Experience managing in-house payroll function preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL and ABILITY

Excellent knowledge of applicable current Federal and New York State wage and hour laws and regulatory requirements

Excellent problem analysis and resolution skills

Strong PC computer skills utilizing Microsoft Excel & Word software applications

KRONOS Time and Attendance System experience preferred

Experience operating Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems preferred

Planning and organization: an ability to plan and manage multiple projects

Ability to successfully carry out roles and responsibilities within a team based work environment

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Possess excellent communications skills, problem-solving abilities, customer service, and organizational skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

Office setting, some local travel is required to other Catholic Health facilities

Extended work schedule required in order to ensure the completion of all necessary payroll processing activities, including holiday pay weeks
