Title: Cobol Specialist on Mainframe PlatformLocation: Albany, NY, 12207 - onsite 1 day a week at this time.Duration: 24+ months with probable extensionINDUSTRY Public Sector experience preferredRESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use Cobol to analyze routines, procedures, TIP screens, ECL, batch jobs and FTPs which make up discrete parts of the systems;
  • Analyze DMS and RDMS database structures, data dictionaries and source code for discrepancies or inaccuracies;
  • Document system specifications and solutions to facilitate knowledge transfer;
  • Coordinate project activities among other team members, users, and/or requesters;
  • Work closely with Architects and others on the applications development team to refine solution design;
  • Report status of current tasks and outstanding issues to supervisor and project leads;
MANDATORY
  • Level II- Between 4 years (48 months) and 7 (84 months) years of experience as a Specialist
  • 5 years (60 months) experience developing COBOL programs in a mainframe environment.
  • 2 years (24 months) experience working on complex project.
SECONDARY
  • 5 years (60 months) experience compiling and deploying COBOL programs to multiple environments (dev, test, production, etc.)
  • 5 years (60 months) experience eliciting business requirements to be built in on a COBOL based platform.
  • 5 years (60 months) experience supporting COBOL-based production systems.
  • 6 months experience analyzing and extracting business rules from legacy systems using extraction software (i.e. Evovleware Intellysis).
  • 5 years (60 months) experience conducting analysis and data conversion on legacy COBOL systems.
  • 5 years' (60 months) experience managing multiple priorities, simultaneously.
  • 2 years (24 months) experience migrating from legacy systems to modern products.
  • 3 years (36 months) experience in requirements definition.
