Apply now!The Director of Ambulatory Surgery oversees all aspects of the surgery center’s operations, including clinical, financial, and administrative functions. This role is responsible for strategic planning, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and performance management, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and operational efficiency. The Director leads multidisciplinary teams, manages financial and business affairs, and drives initiatives to enhance overall performance and safety within the surgery center. This position requires a dynamic leader with a strong background in healthcare management and a commitment to operational excellence.Responsibilities:Managerial:
Responsible for providing managerial leadership in an ambulatory surgery center setting.The ASC Director is responsible for the daily operations and is accountable for the quality of nursing care.
Responsible for management of Physician block/surgery time; evaluates block utilization and makes recommendations for changes to increase the efficiency of the Center.
Provides direct oversight of infection control and quality improvement activities and reporting to the Board of Directors.
Monitor, evaluate, and report quality metrics, safety initiatives, and standards (risk management), as well as patient outcomes.Direct oversight and management of purchasing of all supplies and services for the Center.
Responsible for maintaining employee personnel files with current documentation
Responsible for staff orientation, development, training, and performance management (coaching, corrective action, and performance appraisals) and collaborating with Human Resources, as needed.
Investigate and respond to patient and staff complaints promptly and thoroughly, collaborating with Human Resources and Risk Management as needed.
Responsible for oversight of Medical Staff and Ancillary Staff credentialing; ensures that credentialing files are current and up to date.
Administrative:
Responsible for reviewing and providing case costing data to the Medical Director/Board of Directors.
Assures that contracts for services are reviewed and maintained.
Coordinates vendors and services to keep infra-structure systems functioning and compliant with required testing.
Maintains documentation and improves services in accordance with written policies and in compliance with various city, state, and federal regulatory and accrediting agencies for the operation of the ASC.
Responsible for ongoing review and revision of policies and procedures; keeps staff apprised of changes in policies and procedures and ensures compliance.
Responsible for submission of AAAHC application when required and maintaining compliance with AAAHC standards and providing leadership through regular surveys.
Submits Quality reporting activities to the NYSDOH and CMS when indicated.
Collaborates with Finance in preparation of the annual budget. Makes recommendations for capital expenditures. Reviews variances throughout the year and takes corrective action when necessary.
Attends Board of Director meetings; prepares agenda and documents meeting minutes.
Responsible for screening, interviewing, and evaluating surgical center employment applications and selecting appropriately qualified candidates to fill Center staffing vacancies.
Conducts Center-wide staff meetings.
Accepts other duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the Center and the organization.
Clinical:
Plans, directs, and evaluates nursing care and functions in accordance with established philosophy.
Provide necessary guidance and support to the OR and Pre-op/PACU Charge Nurse to assist them in performing their duties and responsibilities, including schedules, staff education, communication, competencies, and quality improvement activities.
Assist clinical staff in evaluating new products and equipment for the Center.
Qualifications:
Current unrestricted NYS RN License required;
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; master’s degree in nursing, management or related field preferred;
BLS Certification required and ACLS Certification preferred;
Minimum five (5) years clinical experience as a RN, preferably with Operating Room and/or Pre-Op/PACU experience;
Minimum three (3) years demonstrated experience in administration/management preferred;
Knowledgeable in computer applications and their use in a clinical setting
Excellent communication skills; oral, written and presentation;
Ability to organize, prioritize, analyze, anticipate, interpret, evaluate and problem solve to provide a safe, effective and functional environment.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions, conflicting demands, and deadlines.
Multitasks to ensure efficient and accurate completion of daily assignments
Maintains a positive attitude and treats others with courtesy and professionalism.

Other Information:
This position requires more than 40 hours a week including routine meetings after regular business hours.
NYS Drivers License required. Periodic travel to and between practice locations and related companies.
