Arborist Assistant

Urban forestry design firm is seeking additional crew member to fill the role of Arborist Assistant. Role includes pruning for trees and shrubs from the ground or on a ladder. Climbing is not required. Must be able to prune both for removal with a chainsaw as well as be able to make precision cuts using a pole saw up to 20 feet. Must have the knowledge to make pruning decisions without supervision, and be able to communicate clearly and effectively to clients, supervisor and crew. Additional work includes pest identification, stormwater green infrastructure, planting, irrigation, and support the general landscaping service crew with mowing, weeding, mulching and composting. You must be safe, reliable, honest, level-headed, work well with others and be able to ask and answer questions. Position is open until filled. Because this is an outdoor position, winter work is weather dependent. Normal work hours are 8:30-4:30pm Monday-Friday, with some variation necessary on occasion.

Candidate must be willing to work in weather conditions above 20F. Must have at least 3 years professional experience in the landscape industry. Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Candidate will need an application-based phone for timecard entry.

Due to COVID-19, all crew are required to wear virus protectant masks at all times during the pandemic. During heightened outbreaks, crew may need to drive personal vehicles to job sites.

Education is preferred. ISA certified arborist, previous certification preferred or dedicated intention to receive certification within one year of employment.

Safety is always first and a required component of all work.
