Production Agency Quality ensures that all products in the Weapons Production Directorate meet or exceed all quality requirements.As a Continuous Improvement Analyst you will lead and conduct continuous improvement (CI) initiatives based upon standard CI frameworks and projects (e.g., Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, 5S, etc.) in collaboration with various quality teams in the Production Agency Quality (PAQ) Division. You will support PAQ through strategic initiatives involving CI and act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for applying CI methodologies and tools (e.g., A3, PDCA, VSM, etc.). You will provide consultation for process improvements in manufacturing process areas, including: requirements development and management, metrics coordination and analysis, quality assurance oversight, nonconformance and corrective actions coordination, project monitoring and control, and organizational training. You will analyze existing process flows and layouts to determine effective and efficient process options, initiate process improvement projects based on those analyses, and solve root cause issues to prevent problem recurrence. Project status updates and recommendations will be communicated to PAQ management, highlighting items requiring appropriate escalation. Lastly, you will help cultivate a culture of continuous improvement across all levels of the organization by developing and supporting the necessary framework and tool deployment to create change.What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:Quality Standards: Expert-level knowledge and experience applying quality assurance regulatory, contractual, and technical documents, i.e., DOE Order 414.1D, 10 CRF 830, Weapons Quality Policy (NAP-401.1), and NQA-1.Quality Assurance: Demonstrated experience identifying areas of process improvement and executing CI projects to completion. Expert-level knowledge of quality concepts and principles, quality assurance, and quality management system practices. Experience performing quality assessments, surveillances, and/or audits in areas of manufacturing quality and facilitating external oversight.Customer Service: Proven record of working closely with customers to define expectations and mutual responsibilities.Communication: Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills, as evidenced by internal and external interactions; oral presentations and report writing; negotiating, influencing, conflict resolution, and consensus building. Proven experience working constructively and effectively with personnel from different organizations at all levels.Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the position. At this level, post graduate course work may be expected.Desired Qualifications:Weapons Manufacturing: Demonstrated knowledge of quality and manufacturing principles. Knowledge of and experience in weapons systems, weapons manufacturing, production, and design operations and practices.Certification: A recognized, relative industry certification in Six Sigma, Lean, or quality assurance such as ASQ’s CQA, CQE, CMQ/OE or Six Sigma Belt certification.Clearance: Active DOE Q Clearance and HRP Certification highly desirable.Collaboration: Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team including technicians, engineers, administrative staff, etc.Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.COVID Vaccine :The COVID vaccine is mandatory for all Laboratory employees, on-site contractors, and on-site subcontractors unless granted an accommodation under applicable state or federal law.
