DescriptionThe employee is responsible for providing personal, qualified laboratory assistance to the STEM laboratories. The primary responsibility is to prepare a series of laboratory exercises related to specific content areas of Engineering Technology courses, Physics and Engineering and Technology.This is a Support Staff union position as stated in the Support Staff collective bargaining agreement- Grade 9Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare Engineering, Physics, and Engineering and Technology lab materials for experiments, per instructor requests.

Properly label all materials required in the related laboratory courses.

Prepare, set up/take down and remove lab experimentation materials and equipment in the laboratory or any sites outside of the Campuses as required.

Maintain and repair laboratory instruments and equipment; propose orders for additional maintenance, repair or replacement.

Maintain cleanliness in all lab rooms and stockrooms.

Responsible for the proper storage of materials, chemicals, equipment in appropriated containers and locations.

Receive and check in purchased materials.

Work with the lab supervisor to propose orders for miscellaneous materials for the related areas and laboratory courses.

Conduct and maintain an inventory of materials, equipment and chemicals as applicable on a regular schedule

Follow the Right –To- Know law as it applies to the Engineering, Physics and Engineering and Technology.

OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community.Minimum QualificationsEducation Required:Associates Degree. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or related area preferred.Experience Required:One (1) to two (2) years of directly related applicable laboratory experience, three years preferred.Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements:

Ability to provide support and assistance in an educational laboratory facility

Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of Earth Science, Physics, and the related Engineering and Technology

Ability to maintain and repair lab equipment used in the Engineering Technologies and Physics laboratories

Ability to work as a part of a team with faculty, lab personnel and other individuals

Proficient in Physics and Engineering laboratory practices, such as safety, quality assurance organization, documentation, etc.
