Position Summary:
The Mechanic for CWS Fence & Guardrail works at the direction of the Lead Mechanic and the Manager to maintain and improve the daily and long-term physical condition of the CWS and related companies’ fleet of vehicles and equipment. This includes but is not limited to the light fleet, heavy fleet, trailers, pounders, and other mobile equipment. This role requires a “hands-on” approach that must prioritize safety in the execution of daily work. The Mechanic will be expected to focus on maximizing operating efficiency in a cost-effective manner and provide clear and consistent written and verbal communication to a variety of internal and external resources.
Essential Job Functions:
Ensure fleet is clean and in good condition and repair, suitable for safe daily operations, and are a good reflection of the Company for employees, customers, and the general public
Oversee daily preparation to ensure equipment is fully operable, clean, fueled and inspected
Participate in the comprehensive preventative maintenance program and implement service and repairs
Perform direct mechanical work and welding, in-house, as appropriate
Manage subcontracted services when necessary, building and maintaining relationships with key providers
Specify and order required parts and materials
Review DVIRs daily and report to Lead Mechanic and Manager – Project Implementation to prioritize needed service and repairs
Compliance with safety and environmental procedures and principles established by the Company and government agencies
Assist in the maintenance of accurate and organized records for fleet and facilities, including standardized naming and identification, detailed historic and projected maintenance schedules and procedures
Experience/Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 - 5 years proven experience in a similar role
Ability to operate a commercial vehicle (automatic and manual transmission) and other heavy equipment
Able to apply knowledge and learning capabilities of mechanical functions of various components and equipment, including electrical, pneumatics, compressed air, and water systems
Self-starter with sound judgment, positive attitude, takes initiative, and adapts to changing work environment
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, USDOT Federal and State Regulations and Compliance Guidelines
CDL A License Preferred
