Overview

We are seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join our team for the execution of repairs and maintenance of our company fleet. The shop crew must contribute both individually and collectively to the R&M needs of the organization. Ideal candidates will have entry level knowledge of diesel trucks and/or heavy equipment. To be successful in this role the candidate must be a safety-minded, motivated, team player with quality communication and time management skills.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a high school diploma, or GED, and basic knowledge of the repairs and maintenance of diesel trucks and/or heavy equipment.

Candidates with a post-secondary education in automotive, diesel or related technician program to be considered.

Must possess an adequate set of tools to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on fleet.

Must have the basic skills to troubleshoot and identify issues with vehicles and equipment.

Must have the ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and user/operator manuals.

Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Reliable transportation to and from the shop with ability to work, year-round, in all weather conditions.

Strong computer skills with the ability to learn and/or launch new software platforms.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365.

Ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl and/or stretch for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull at least 50 lbs. frequently and unassisted.

Working knowledge of a wide variety of hand, power, and specialty tools.

CDL A or B is preferred but not required; must have the ability to obtain a CDL with no restrictions.

Proficient welding skills are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Perform and assist with various repairs on company fleet vehicles, machinery, and heavy equipment.

Execute preventative and regularly scheduled maintenance to ensure proper functionality and reliability, including oil changes, tire rotations and brakes.

Conduct thorough examinations of vehicles and equipment to identify service or safety issues.

Maintain accurate records/logs of repairs and services performed on fleet.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring safety is the highest priority.

Collaborate with the Shop Manager, Service Manager and/or other team members as necessary.

Communicate with the office as needed for daily paperwork, inventory, or other necessary documentation.

Complete all tasks assigned by the Shop Manager and/or Service Manager in a safe and timely manner.

Complete all training, testing and/or certifications provided and/or required by employer.

Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, rules, regulations and guidelines.

Hours

Monday – Friday, minimum 8-hour shift, with possible overtime as needed. Shop personnel are expected to be fully prepared for the start of the workday on time, every day. Our culture fosters a good work/life balance. Our goal is not to work on weekends, but flexibility is required as schedules are subject to change due to workload, weather and/or job conditions.
