DevOps Engineer - Contract

Job Description

MarketAxess is seeking an individual who is looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity to help change and influence the future of MarketAxess CI and CD management. As a member of a central DevOps team, this engineer will play a hands-on role in assisting the daily release management function of a major trading application. With a keen eye on 100% automation, s/he will work with teammates, as well as application teams to enable strategic automation of release functions. Additionally, this role will include working with stakeholders to ensure proper adoption with an adequate feedback loop for improvement as well as culturally enabling other teams to learn and promote better CI and CD themes. This engineer will join a fast-paced team, obsessed with automation, but equally obsessed with high quality work, and raising engineering standards.

• Perform day to day release management function for a major trading application
• Identify opportunities for automation in day-to-day function
• Design and automate release functions to reduce manual churn
• Contribute to critical pipelines to improve the flow of CI and CD to raise the code quality, engineering standards, as well as speed and simplicity to release
• Champion knowledge sharing of CICD within the trading function, creating documentation, hosting knowledge sessions, and helping day to day issues with training vs. fixing mentality
• Work with an incredibly talented automation team to improve your own engineering skills, and share experience to improve others

• Strong experience with a high level programming language (Python preferred)
• Strong knowledge of CI and CD practices, specifically more advanced CI and CD patterns
• Experience writing pipelines or custom pipeline stages (flexible with the specific tooling)
• Experience automating with 3rd party tools, to provide seamless pipeline integrations
• Experience with deployment, either as a central release engineer, or as the deployment engineer within a team
• Experience with knowledge transfer and enabling teams to be self-sufficient
• Ability to provide technical strength and hands on day-to-day solutions to agile teams, preparing for the deployment and implementation of solutions
• Strong presentation skills; written and verbal communication including the ability to influence
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Minimum of 2 years of industry experience in an automation, development, release or similar role
