One Data Streaming Platform.Data Connects Us.About the Role:We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead the Analytics pillar within Confluent’s Storage, Processing, and Analytics (SPA) organization. This critical role will drive the development and innovation of our analytics capabilities, ensuring that our products empower customers to derive insights and make data-driven decisions at scale.What You Will Do:
Leadership and Strategy: Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Analytics pillar, aligning with Confluent’s overall business objectives.
Team Management: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
Product Development: Drive the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from ideation to delivery, ensuring robust, scalable, and reliable analytics solutions.
Real-time Analytics: Lead the development of real-time analytics solutions leveraging Confluent’s streaming platform, ensuring low-latency data processing and actionable insights.
Batch Query Processing with FlinkSQL: Oversee the implementation of batch query processing capabilities using FlinkSQL, optimizing for performance and scalability in data-intensive environments.
AI and Machine Learning: Integrate AI and machine learning capabilities into Confluent’s data processing offerings, enabling advanced analytics and predictive capabilities, including exposing Model Inference, LLVM, Vector Search capabilities via Flink SQL
Integration with Columnar Store: Drive the integration of analytics solutions with columnar store technologies, optimizing data retrieval and storage for analytical workloads.
Confluent Tableflow Integration: Lead the integration efforts with Confluent Tableflow offering for seamless data lake integration and management, ensuring data governance and reliability.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Management, Design, and other engineering pillars to define and execute on product roadmaps.
Technical Excellence: Champion engineering best practices, architectural design, and technical decision-making within the Analytics pillar.
Operational Excellence: Establish and monitor key metrics and performance indicators to ensure operational efficiency and delivery excellence.
Customer Focus: Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success teams to understand customer needs and feedback, incorporating insights into product development.

Technical Expertise: Proven track record of leading engineering teams in building complex, scalable analytics solutions.
Leadership Experience: Demonstrated success in managing and growing engineering teams, with a strong focus on mentorship and talent development.
Strategic Thinker: Ability to formulate and execute on strategic initiatives, with a deep understanding of market trends and customer requirements.
Collaborative Mindset: Experience working cross-functionally in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, driving alignment and achieving shared goals.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts and strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What Gives You an Edge:
Experience in the fields of data engineering, streaming platforms, or distributed systems
Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
Prior experience in the analytics or data management space.

This position has an annual estimated salary of $285,030 - $308,790, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package.
