Posted 11/12/2024 Close Date: 11/19/2024 Recruiter: JON TERRAZAS Phone: (775)684-0116 Email: j.terrazas@admin.nv.gov Applications accepted for another 6 Days 23 Hrs 20 Mins The PositionEnvironmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs.Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action; OR incumbents serve as the technical scientific expert for a bureau within the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.This position will serve as Technical Scientific Expert in NDEP's Bureau of Federal Facilities. The incumbent will support the Agency's long-range programmatic planning for the safe disposal of low-level radioactive waste (LLRW) at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). The Environmental Scientist will monitor current state planning priorities such as forecasting and verifying LLRW from each of the 25 Dept. of Energy waste generators that ship LLRW to the NNSS for disposal; observing/ overseeing enhanced waste verification at DOE sites throughout the USA; reviewing waste stream profiles; tracking waste streams, and engaging with stakeholders.
