Local Medical Office is seeking a receptionist. Employer is confidential.

Duties include:


Unlock doors.

Turn on computers.

Make coffee

Take phone off "after hours" answering.

Check voice mails.

Check the fax machine.

Order office supplies as needed.


Organize charts.

Pull charts for scheduled patients.

Attach appropriate forms such as super bills, progress notes, HIPAA waiver, patient information sheet, consent to treat etc.

File charts if needed.


Greet patients.

Update patient information.

Take a copy of insurance cards.

Check address for changes.

Check to see if patient has been labeled as a bad debt or cash only patient.

Schedule follow up appointments, referrals, procedures such as colonoscopy or specialist appointments.

Call or E-script prescriptions.

Collect copays or payments from patient at the time of service.


Answer Phones.

Make appointments.

Take messages. (If there is a refill request or a patient has a question for another employee, pull the chart and get a detailed message to relay to the person receiving the message. This will help time management for everyone.)

Check answering machine.


Post office once or twice a day. (Optional)

Deposits to the bank. (Optional)

Occasional runs to the grocery store etc.

Possible drug store runs.

Medical Records:

Copy medical records upon request and make sure that the records are released and signed.


Fill out Superbills with all pertinent information.

Add up charges.

Look up Medicaid patient eligibility.


You may be asked to type letters, request reports from other medical providers, fax documents, copy notes etc. If the provider needs something immediate, that becomes the top priority. This office is a "teamwork" based office. If someone needs help and you have time to do so, you may be asked to step in.

Employees will be expected to perform all tasks listed in their job description. Any employee who fails to perform their job as described above will be given two verbal warnings and a written warning. Failure to adhere to the above warnings may result in termination of employment.
